Renaissance High School is a school of choice with spaces available first to students from Joint School District No. 2. There is no admission criteria other than signing an agreement to fulfill the schools’ rigorous curriculum.
If the school has more applicants than space available, seats at Renaissance High School will be filled using a random lottery conducted by the staff at the District Service Center.
As of February 2009, the freshman class has a waiting list, but the sophomore class still has available seats. Make history as a member of the first graduating class of the first public International Baccalaureate high school in Idaho!

Lottery Procedures
The senior class will be made up of students who are continuing from 11th grade or students who are new to Renaissance who previously attended an International Baccalaureate school.
The lottery will be conducted starting at the 11th grade level and continue by grade downward to 9th grade.
Maximum enrollment at Renaissance High School will be as follows:
Fall 2009
Freshman class: 210 students
Sophomore class: 210 students
Fall 2010
Freshman class: 210 students
Sophomore class: 210 students
Junior class: 210 students
Fall 2011
Freshman class: 210 students
Sophomore class: 210 students
Junior class: 210 students
Senior class: 210 students
Geographic preference will be given as follows:
- Seventy-five seats will be allocated to students residing within the Mountain View High School attendence area. The remainder of the seats will be allocated to students residing in Joint School District No. 2.
- If all seats are not filled by students who are residents of Joint School District No. 2, students living outside of the boundaries of Joint School District No. 2 will be admitted in the second tier of the lottery (students living outside of the district boundaries must be selected by lottery and must also have an open enrollment request approved by the Board of Trustees)
- Students will be drawn and selected to enroll by each geographic area until that area’s allotment of seats has been filled. All students not selected will be placed in a “pool” of names of those who applied for admission; after the initial lottery, any opening will be filled by drawing a name at random from the pool. The pool will be maintained until the enrollment period for the next school year. No students will be placed at Renaissance High School once the enrollment period has begun.
Additional Admission Procedures
- The last year to be selected to be a full-time student at Renaissance High School is the junior year.
- Unfilled spaces in the junior and senior class will be filled by students seeking a certificate in an International Baccalaureate course offering. Individual class offerings will be filled by random lottery. Preference in the lottery selection will be given first to students attending the Renaissance Professional-Technical Center. Any other openings will be available, next, on an equal basis to any student residing in the district.
- When a student is drawn and placed in an available open seat, any/all siblings will then be placed in the order of the lottery in the grade level appropriate for the lottery.
- Class sizes and configuration are set by the district based on facility structure, district average class sizes, and district teacher load policy.
- Class assignments are made at the discretion of the building administrator
- The lottery will be conducted by District Service Center staff, and a record of the lottery will be kept at the District Services Center at 1303 Central Ave, Meridian, Idaho, 83642.
